Oulu [ˈowlu] is a lively and youthful city of 200,000+ inhabitants. It is the most populous city in Northern Finland and the fifth most populous city in the country.
Located only about 100 miles (170 kilometres) from the Arctic Circle, the nature in the Oulu region is unique. Close by are the southernmost fell highland region of Finland and rare nature reserves shaped by the Ice Age. The sea is ever present, and its frozen vastness during the winter months is breathtaking.
Oulu is known for its IT and tech scene and thus the place to be for technology and IT startups in Finland. It is considered one of Europe’s “living labs”, where new technology is developed and tested at a community-wide scale. It’s home to many fast-growing startups like KNL Networks, Valossa, and Oura. And many more to come!
